I want to tell you of the beauty I have seen In the in-between Between point’s A and B It's infinite The beauty’s infinite, it never ends The beauty’s infinite, it never ends I was painting with a brush on an old satellite dish When I was finished I had to wait for the paint to dry I sat down on a rocking chair rocked over here and over there Closed my eyes and leaned way back, heard dogs in the distance bark And heard the birds all around me chirp And I knew The beauty’s infinite, it never ends The beauty’s infinite, it never ends I was in traffic on the highway cars lined up in front and behind me And to my left and right all stuck no end in sight I turned on the radio a pretty song I’m glad I know Looked out the window at all the people in their cars Some were honking, some were yawning Some were eating, some were reading Some were singing, some were dancing Some were dreaming, some were laughing And I knew The beauty’s infinite, it never ends The beauty’s infinite, it never ends

I’m sitting on a bench, the city of Boston is Glowing as morning begins The birds and all their friends, start to hoppin’ when They see the sun shining People start walking past Joggers are crossing paths Big dogs taking it slow And I could stay stalled here, all day, all year Just watching the world unfold Sitting on a bench, the city of Boston is Glowing in the afternoon sun Some folks are having thoughts which, they look lost in Some folks would rather have fun Teenagers on bikes, too cool for red lights Big dogs taking it slow And I could stay stalled here, all day, all year Just watching the world unfold Sitting on a bench, the city of Boston is Glowing as the sun goes down Now all the joggers are looking exhausted You can tell by the way they yawn Crowded on the bus, rush hour getting stuck Big dogs taking it slow But I could stay stalled here, all day, all year Just watching the world unfold

I know what I’m going to do today I’m gonna learn how to roller skate Wheels on my feet, how hard could it be Wheels on my feet, oh I’ll be free I found these skates at a yard sale last year So it’s about time that I faced my fears Wheels on my feet, dreams in my head Of long rides down the esplanade I’ll wobble at first, & it feels like I’ll fall But if it was easy why do it all? Wheels on my feet, and sweat on my brow Wheels on my feet, I’ll figure out how And If I stumble, well I’ll be okay But I’ll admit I’m still a little afraid Wheels on my feet, might look silly at first Wheels on my feet, but it could be worse And then! There’s a hill! I go down! I can’t stop! Arms out wide! Crouch and tilt! And watch out! For that rock! But it’s worth it to learn how to roller skate One day I’ll blast fast past the people and wave Wheels on my feet, I’m pretty brave Wheels on my feet, I deserve praise ‘Cause I know what I’m going to do today I’m gonna learn how to roller skate Wheels on my feet, how hard could it be If there’s wheels on your feet, you can come follow me...

The road of life is windy my friend, It twists and it turns pretty hard to tell when you’re at a dead end but if you study you might learn Those windy, Kentucky, ridge-line Appalachian roads Have you ever felt so twisted up, you didn’t know right from wrong? Have you ever felt so turned around, you didn’t know the words to the song? That’s those windy, Kentucky, ridge-line Appalachian roads Have you ever felt lost like you’re in the wrong place And the right place is who knows where And you just don’t know how to get from here All the way to there. On those windy, Kentucky, ridge-line Appalachian roads Now, dontcha think there oughta be a tour guide Who shows you where to go? But when some kind soul gives you a map, it's for their own road not yours Well, it’s kind of helpful, but I’m still a little lost! Or maybe you thought that you weren’t concerned ‘bout what would happen next And then you learned that ‘round the turn Was not what you’d expect And then you saw the world change, Right before your eyes And just like that it starts to rain, And you got caught by surprise On those windy, Kentucky, ridge-line Appalachian roads Yes, those windy, Kentucky, rich, complex, amazing Gorgeous, frustrating Ridge-line Appalachian roads.

Skip a Stone 03:51
Skip a stone in a river And it could go forever Skip a stone in a river Find some water, find a rock, if you’ve got the time, you’ve never gotta stop Perfectly round, perfectly flat, perfectly thrown, hardly any splash Ripples come, ripples go, spreading out, from where I threw it low Skip it right, skip it wrong, either way, it’s going down
6.
Big Raccoon 03:44
Big raccoon on the edge of a dumpster Looking down at stinky stuff When I say 'big', I mean BIG and fluffy and smart Not my favorite thing to see in the dark Staring down at scraps of old food I think I know what it's thinking 'bout "Looks like dinner smells like dinner I can't believe what these humans throw out You'd think they'd know better by now” Wonder what it's like to be a raccoon Is it better than being a human Or is it worse 'cause they don't have big brains Or is it be basically the same They don't have thumbs, but you could have fooled me The way they can open anything Omnivores, eatin’ meat & veggies Sounds like me, maybe I'm one already If I was a raccoon you know what I’d find myself a dumpster full of discarded donuts I’d put a donut on all 20 of my toes And just for good luck, one on my nose Sometimes it kinda feels like I’m on the edge Of a world of garbage And I get confused, don’t know what to do next But if I was a raccoon, it would all make sense

Dump Truck 00:22
Dump truck hauls good stuff It’s fun to watch Drives by piled high Just look at what it’s got That one Has got rocks

There’s a double dimpled dappled apple On a branch above my head I grasp to grab an ample sample, But slip on leaves instead I grimace for to grapple With my sad apple stand-still For a handful, my challenge Turn this mountain to an ant-hill Never have I ever seen a situation sadder Oh I’ll get a ladder!

If there’s anything you need, you can call me, you can call me I can’t promise I can fix it but I’ll try at least! You can call me! You can call me If you got your fishing line stuck in a tree You can call me, you can call me I’m only 5 foot 10 on my toe tips, But I’ve got a ladder and together we can do it If you and your kayak are a-drifting out to sea You can call me, you can call me I don’t have a boat but my uncle does It floats, there’s not too much rust You call me, I’ll call him We’ll get you back to the dock my friend You won’t even have to swim If there’s anything you need, you can call me, you can call me I can’t promise I can fix it but I’ll try at least! You can call me! You can call me If your hairs to your knees but you don’t want it to your knees You can call me, you can call me I cut hair, didn’t you know? With my comb and my scissors and those how-to videos If there’s anything you need, you can call me, you can call me I can’t promise I can fix it but I’ll try at least! You can call me! You can call me If you’re planting a garden and you’ve got too many seeds You can call me, you can call me I got a shovel, I know how to dig holes I know they need water, I can bring a hose If you’re growing that garden and you got too many weeds You can call me, you can call me I can pull ‘em out, I can put ‘em in a pile Anything that’d make you smile If you’re harvesting that garden and you got too many beats You can call me, you can call me ‘Cause I like to eat beats I put ‘em in my salad with the feta cheese If there’s anything you need, you can call me, you can call me I can’t promise I can fix it but I’ll try at least! You can call me! You can call me And when the day comes that I am struggling, And the world turns out to be quite troubling And what I ought to do next is puzzling I hope you’ll be there, telling me If there’s anything you need, you can call me, you can call me I can’t promise I can fix it but I’ll try at least! You can call me! You can call me

I’d like to interview you for the local news Do you have a moment to spare? We’d like to learn a little more about who you are, And how you got here. First of all tell us, what’s your name? And how old are you? Do you have some moms or dads? Who’s in your family? And what is it you like to do? Do you have a job? What did you do yesterday? Is it the same you’ll do tomorrow? I’d like to interview you for the local news Do you have a moment to spare? We’d like to learn a little more about who you are, And how you got here. What do you think of bubblegum? Is it good or is it gross? Do you like sunshine more than rain? What’s the thing makes you complain? Are you the same person that you were last week? Or did you change a little bit? I’d like to interview you for the local news Do you have a moment to spare? We’d like to learn a little more about who you are, And how you got here.

Zip-Line 03:12
I wish I had a zip-line to where I need to go When I’m not on a zip-line, feels like I’m going slow I wish there was a zip-line b/w me and you Then holding on tight would be all I need to do If every street I rode on was downhill from here I might need brakes, but I wouldn’t need gears And if the road back home was downhill too Then holding on tight would be all I need to do But instead I’ve got to walk, instead of I’ve got to climb Instead I’ve got to struggle, and it takes such a long time I wish I had a zip-line I wish I had a zip-line to the grocery store I wish I had a zip-line to the ocean shore I wish I had a zip-line to the Franklin Park Zoo I wish I had a zip-line that could take me to you But instead I’ve got to walk, instead of I’ve got to climb Instead I’ve got to struggle, and it takes such a long time I wish I had a zip-line But struggle makes me strong, and climbing brings me high And what would winning mean if I didn’t have to try Still sometimes...sometimes... I just wish I had a zip-line

I can’t see the forest for the trees Always get stuck down in the details Focusing on things I shouldn’t be Getting lost can be so easy I never see the branches for the leaves Until they’re falling all around me Focusing on things I shouldn’t be Until the wider world’s a mystery Looking at the insects in the dirt Don’t notice I’m missing the flowers It’s true that little things can make you hurt But that doesn’t mean they’re worth all your brain power I want to learn to see the forest and the trees To see the biggest picture I can see I want to understand what it all means And not get too distracted by the little things But I want to sometimes get distracted by the little things
13.
A Dream 01:47
I had a dream, I had a dream Sure I don’t know what it means Stranger than you’d believe They come and go, they disappear These fantasies between my ears I had a dream and in that dream I was falling and it felt like forever Then I was floating, light as a feather Then I was beyond the clouds And that’s where I am now
14.
The new year, the new year What do we do here? I wish I knew, dear In the new year I could grow. I'm gonna grow In the new year I'm going to practice playing this song on guitar I'm gonna get better at playing this song on the guitar In the new year

Some things change The world is strange But as sure as birds need feathers As sure as pitchers need catchers As sure as bad things get better We’re in it together, together, together Some things change White shirts stain But as sure as sunshine follows cloudy weather As sure as no one knows the future whatsoever As sure as bad things get better We're in it together Some things change Rearrange, rearrange, rearrange But as sure as nothing lasts forever As sure as there's no such thing as never As sure as bad things get better We're in it together
16.
I make mistakes every day I wake up wondering what I will do wrong But I've got to do something before the day gets done I see good things every day I look at the city from the window in my living room But sometimes that sky is gray at noon I make mistakes every day I buy new shoes that don't keep me warm I go the wrong way down the wrong road And I know it and I keep going I break new things every day I could always be a little less careless But most of the time, It's gonna happen regardless So I mend old things every day I've got a lot of glue and thread and pins But it can be hard to find hope about fixing the big things Cause I make mistakes every day I wake up wondering what I will do wrong But I've got to do something before the day gets done I’ve got to do something

The most special thing I own Is a gift from my aunt A quilt that she made for me from scraps of my grandparents clothes my grandfather's favorite work shirts my grandmother's vests and dresses my aunt saved them and sewed them together a patchwork of memories gathered and then she gave them to me Helen and Milton Hanson Were my father's parents I never knew them as well as I could have but there's still stories we're sharing and I know their children That's my father and my aunt and my uncle And I know their children's children That's my cousins and my brother and me And if they hadn't have been here, who knows how the world would be Milt grew up on a Ranch in Wyoming Helen was raised in Minnesota My dad was their third child in 1957 I was born a few decades later Milt & Helen wore clothes, I assume, everyday and when they died Some shirts and skirts were lovingly saved and changed into a quilt with blue denim in traditional designs that keeps me warm, every night

Vacation 01:06
Took some months off school Just what I needed Thought about that summer feeling Didn’t think about school Thought about you And the sunset in the evening And the power of the freedom Didn’t think about school Came up with a plan For the future for the fall Had about a hundred thoughts None of them about school Now my mind is open and my friends are close They give the strength of an endless hope I think it’s time To hit the road

Wave Goodbye 00:22
Wave, wave, wave goodbye I hope to see you soon I had so much fun today Singing songs with you

about

Many of the songs the three album set "Singing Songs With You" are designed for the preschool music class setting (i.e. an emphasis on movement, interactivity, and zipper-style lyrics so groups can add their own verses).
